Latest version 2009 is not free. It costs US$ 10 and if you want a free version you can choose Finale Reader. It only reads music files offered on my website, and you can print them. If you want to write your own music, then the cheapest version is Notepad 2009.
To download the Finale Reader, first create an account, log in, and then download from the page that will appear next. Choose the platform Windows or Macintosh.

Note:
My files are written in 2004 version and the latest is 2006 version which is 30.2 MB a large file. You can play 2004 version music on 2006 version but not vice versa. If you find it difficult to download 30 MB then try downloading Notepad 2004 which is just 6.2 MB.
Note serial number carefully, and enter it without any spaces to the right or left of the hyphen.
