Our Visitors come from.....

Toronto, Canada

During the month of February, there were many visitors to the website from Canada.    Mangaloreans and Goans  have joined others from India, to make Canada their home, and we wish them well.   I wish to endeavor to make their new home, familiar to those who might not be as lucky as they have been, and encourage greater understanding and fellowship, in spite of distances separating them.

Every nation develops its unique culture, and over the years leaves monuments, reminding the later generations of their past history.    I ventured into the Cyberspace, and found some interesting information, which I would like to share with you.

Colborne Lodge

This rare Regency picturesque cottage is a graceful monument to John and Jemima Howard, the couple who founded High Park. John Howard, one of Toronto’s first architects as well as a City Engineer and Surveyor, built Colborne Lodge in 1837 which still contains many original furnishings, artifacts, and some of his own watercolours depicting images of early Toronto

Colborne Lodge’s extensive ornamental and kitchen gardens are now being restored.

Indian Grocery Stores.

New immigrants from India go to Canada, and I thought it might help them if a link was given for the Grocery Stores in Toronto.    May be it is  superfluous information, but some new comers may find it useful.  There is a list available at this website:

"I have come to meet my people"
Bishop of Mangalore meets Mangaloreans in Canada

This was a poignant expression of His Excellency's tremendous love for the Mangalorean Christian community in Canada. The Mangalorean Association of Canada (MAC) assisted by Rev. Fr. Edwin D'Souza, Pastor of St. Martha and Mary Church, Mississauga, organized a Eucharistic celebration followed by a reception on Friday, June 13, 2003.

Concelebrating the Mass with Rev. Fr. Edwin D'Souza and Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, The Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius D'Souza, Bishop of Mangalore, delivered a profound and clear message. "If God has blessed you, let the blessing be continued through you to those who are not as blessed as you are; that goodwill I am sure you will show to the least of your brethren." The enthusiastic congregation contributed generously at the Offertory in support of His Excellency's projects and missions in Mangalore. His Excellency particularly mentioned St. Joseph's Engineering College, Fr. Muller's Medical College and a Scholarship Fund.

A Special Request

It would be a good idea if we could share your news and views, anecdotes with photographs, which others belonging to the Community could share.   People living in the tropics do not understand how you all have to struggle through the winter and snowfalls.   Perhaps, you can help us to understand these things and how you manage to surmount these difficulties.
